This adventure started for me about four years ago at my local Ren Faire. I was hot, with no shade in sight. Where could one find portable shade that accented ones ‘fit? The accessory I craved could not be found and fans just didn’t cut it . Thus, The Shady Lady was born.

I’m inspired in equal measure by the Victoria era, fantasy, and the natural world. I recycle vintage parasol frames as often as possible and have a weakness for a charming handle. No two pieces are truly ever the same.

When you purchase one of my parasols, you are getting a unique piece that you can’t find anywhere else. Those pieces that are handmade will vary somewhat from the image shown on the website. I will contact you to discuss and agree on how yours will vary.

The Shady Lady (Dawn) can be found most days outside Louisville, KY with her four dogs and husband frolicking in the sunshine. And sewing. Lots of sewing.
